Discover the Enhanced TEAL Tool: Version 3 Now Live with Exciting Features!

At WEMC, we’re thrilled to announce the latest release of Teal, our climate data visualisation platform – Version 3 is now live! This upgrade introduces a range of improvements, from a user-friendly interface to enhanced technical performance, ensuring a seamless experience for all users.

Key Teal Features in Version 3:

  1. Intuitive Search Functionality: Easily locate and select countries and their administrative regions by name using our new search box feature.
  2. Dynamic Colour Scale: Our colour scale is now dynamic, adjusting to the actual data being visualized. This enhancement makes it easier to discern variations in data, providing a more insightful experience.
  3. Optimized Data Retrieval: We’ve optimized how data is fetched from the database, along with improved error handling for network-related issues, ensuring smoother performance.
  4. New Types of Charts: These have been designed for customers’ specific needs.
  5. PDF Creation: The ability to select multiple regions and create PDFs of the charts being displayed.

Upgrade of the Underlying Software:

Teal is built upon the Node.js and JavaScript-based Angular framework which has been upgraded from Version 8 to Version 15. This update translates to faster loading times, includes essential Angular bug fixes, and introduces internal improvements to enhance the overall performance.

Teal UI Enhancements:

In tandem with the Angular upgrade, we’ve embraced a new standard: Material Design Components. This step forward allows us to provide an even better user interface for our valued users.

Revamped Code Base and Teal Versions:

Our extensive overhaul has modularized Teal’s code base, simplifying the creation and maintenance of custom Teal versions for WEMC’s partners. Currently, Teal offers various versions, including:

  • The public Teal tool: Ideal for the public and educators to visualize climate-related data, including projections of environmental measures like air temperature and wind speed.
  • West Central Africa Teal: Focused on energy usage data for countries in the West Central Africa region.
  • WMO Teal: Tailored for the World Meteorological Organization, enabling users to explore WMO’s Global Energy Resilience Atlas, providing early insights into climate change risks on renewable energy systems.
  • Commercial versions of Teal, developed in collaboration with, and provided by, our partner Inside Climate Service srl.

An upcoming project for Inside Climate Service will entail developing an API to Teal’s database of climate data for their commercial customers.

Explore the Possibilities with Teal:

If your organization is seeking a robust data visualization tool, we extend a warm invitation to get in touch with WEMC. Our dedicated team is eager to showcase the extensive range of Teal’s features, which go well beyond what you’ve seen in the three versions listed above. We are also keen to engage in a conversation about how we can customize Teal to perfectly align with your specific requirements and objectives.
