Indrani has long experience working in the field of Climate Science and related areas. Since receiving her Ph.D. from Imperial College, London she has worked in various research institutions including Imperial College, University of Exeter and University College London among others. She also previously worked for the India Meteorological Department for 12 years.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society (FRMetS) and also a Trustee. Indrani is a panel member of the Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC), UK and reviewer of many international journals including Nature Geoscience, Scientific Report and Climate Dynamics etc. She is also reviewer of many Grant funding bodies viz. National Science Foundation (NSF) of US, Royal Society and NERC. She has 40 first or single-authored publications on the Web of Science and many of her research are multidisciplinary in nature and address pressing issues of the current day science and society.
