Announcing the new C3S Education Demonstrator & Webinar

After months of hard work and development in partnership with the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), the C3S Education Demonstrator is now live!

The new and improved C3S Edu Demo allows users to explore climate and energy variables using historical data and future projections. Based on the existing European Climatic Energy Mixes (ECEM) demonstrator proof of concept we developed previously, the new tool is optimised for the education sector and for existing school curriculum needs.

“We wanted to build on the wealth of climate and energy data that C3S has been producing through the C3S ECEM Demonstrator. We have created a more accessible application for wider audiences beyond climate scientists and sector experts. High school students are already engaged in the climate conversation and our Education Demonstrator offers them a great opportunity to easily explore first-hand how our climate is changing in a way that matches the school syllabus.”

Prof. Alberto Troccoli, Project Leader

To discover more about the history of the tool, the development and the data decisions behind it, the Copernicus Climate Change Service have generated a more in-depth summary: ‘Bringing climate data to the classroom’.

As a way to help educators, users and other policy-makers understand and make the most of the tool, we’re launching a free webinar series starting on Tuesday 7th January 2020 at 16:00 (UTC).

It will begin with an introduction from Project Leader, Prof. Alberto Troccoli followed by a talk through the user experience, the back-end and front-end development and an instructive tour led by Education and Program Officer, Kit Rackley. The webinar will end with an informative Q & A session where attendees are welcome to contribute.
