Dr. Sachon’s current role at the Met Office is Group Leader for Energy, Industry and Infrastructure. In this role he is responsible for all Met Office work with a wide variety of industry sectors, leading a multidisciplinary team of business people, scientists and operational meteorologists.

Patrick’s focus and the focus of the Met Office Energy, Industry and Infrastructure team is to help decision makers harness the full value of weather and climate science so they can operate safely, efficiently and successfully.

Patrick has eighteen years of experience in the Met Office in a number of business areas, including working on the application of weather and climate science in Transport, Defence, Health, Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy. These roles have helped Patrick develop a wide range of skills and experience that enable him to lead work with customers, partners and colleagues, in order to generate new opportunities and collaborations to harness the full potential of weather and climate science.
