Winners of the ICEM 2017 Best Student Presentation and Best Poster
The World Energy & Meteorology Council (WEMC) is pleased to announce the winners of the Best Student Presentation and Best Poster presented during the 4th International Conference on Energy & Meteorology (ICEM), hosted recently in Bari, Italy from 27 – 29 June.
The Best Student Presentation was awarded to Remo Beerli, for the presentation entitled “Month-ahead wind power forecasts in Europe based on the state of the stratospheric polar vortex”. Remo is a PhD student at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Sciences, based at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland.
The Best Poster award was won by Loïc Vallance for his poster entitled “Proposal of two new criteria to assess solar forecasting performances”. Loïc is a PhD student at the Observation, Impacts, Energy (O.I.E) department at Armines in Paris, France.
Both winners were presented with their award during the closing ceremony of ICEM 2017. The conference was hosted at the beautiful Villa Romanazzi from 27 – 29 June with a pre-conference seminar on Monday 26 June. The conference attracted nearly 200 delegates from 29 countries and included an equal mix of academic, industry and student attendees.
