“Advances in weather and climate forecasting” – a series of Meteorological Masterclasses run by the Royal Meteorological Society in partnership with the University of Reading.

During this series, three leading experts from the University of Reading will discuss the latest scientific advances for understanding and predicting weather, climate and its impacts. Topics will include data assimilation and machine learning, identification of causal pathways in atmospheric teleconnections, and modelling advances in resolution and parameterisation for weather forecasting.

Masterclasses will run weekly on Wednesday’s 16, 23 and 30 March 2022 from 3 pm to 4.30 pm (GMT), consisting of a presentation followed by the opportunity for questions and discussion with the speaker. Attendance at all 3 events is not compulsory.

The series of events is free for anyone to register. The recordings will be made available post-event only to RMetS members who have registered.
